The winter ski resort of Pamporovo is situated some 85 km from Plovdiv Airport, the second largest city in Bulgaria. Located in the Rhodope Mountains, Pamporovo is the southernmost ski resort in Europe. At an altitude of 1650 meters, Pamporovo ski resort have excellent snow cover throughout the season. The ski runs are located in two main areas Chalin valog that the height between 1100 and 1600 meters, and Shiligarnika, which is located between 1700 and 2500 meters. Both are located on the northern slopes of Pirin mountain, about 10 miles above the town of Bansko.
Some 25 minutes walk from the Gondola lift of Bansko has amazing views of mountains and valleys. The route covers 65km and there are many non-piste skiing for the adventurous skier or snowboarder. The ski season lasts longer here with guaranteed snow, at least in mid-December to May. There are more than 40 artificial snow special vehicles and that’s why the ski season to last longer.
